After 5 months of being slammed back and forth in rigid plastic ski boots it was a bit of a shock to my ankles and toes that they were supposed to bend and flex as we were walking sections of the wild pacific trail in Ucluelet and Tofino. It's a well maintained gravel trail, but a bit up and down with the rocks and definitely gave the joints more of a workout than they have been used to.
But 3 seconds standing in the Pacific fixed the pain - couldn't feel anything below the knees :-)
