After several months of lacklustre food in central America and Colombia, things are taking a turn for the better. For the past few weeks we have been seeing a number of Peruvian restaurants, and now we are here it's time to sample some. And over the past 2 nights they have not disappointed....
Last night was by the coast so we both had some fish. Ceviche is everywhere but the south pacific coast is where is supposedly originates. And it's all good. I had fish a lo macho last night, which as far as I can tell from recipies online is a bit like turning bouillabaisse into a sauce and was very good
More ceviche this evening, and another Peruvian speciality called saltada, which appears to be a whatever stir fry with onions, red peppers and chips. Sounds great, and it is. And remember, potatoes originate in Peru and Bolivia.....so it really is authentic. Good enough for me.
And as an added bonus they have flan, and one of the national breweries does a whet beer. The think we may be staying more than a month......
But I've still not tried Guinea pig....just haven't seen it on a menu. Yet.
