As usual we've been leaving our shoes outside the apartment door here in Costa Rica - saves traipsing sand and mud into the apartment. Came out this morning and they were missing - we're on the third floor of a secure compound with an additional locked gate on our walkway/balcony, so unlikely anyone got in.
The caretaker found Maria's on the floor of the carpark, but mine have definitely disappeared. The only thing the caretaker and landlady can come up with is that there are frequently spider monkeys hanging out in the tree abutting the corner of the building. So, the only conclusion is that thieving simians have struck.
The real pisser is that I had been trying to finally kill of the Merrells that I bought a few years ago in Vegas, and they were hanging together by a thread for months until they finally broke last week in Antigua, so I swapped to the brand new pair of Columbia's that I've had in reserve for months and that is what was taken. But they obviously tasted better than Maria's......
